Music and Blues

Enjoy music every Friday and Saturday night. Mitnick said the music lineup will be second to none with major L.A. club acts featured regularly. Most of the time, the shows will have no cover charge, except for rare cases when a big-name act takes the stage.

Blue note

In jazz and blues, blue notes are notes sung or played at a lower pitch than those of the major scale for expressive purposes. Typically the alteration is a semitone or less, but this varies among performers. Country blues, in particular, features wide variations from the tonic but still with the blue-note feeling. The blue notes are usually said to be flattened third, flattened fifth, and flattened seventh scale degrees, although they approximate pitches found in African work songs. These blue notes are what turns a major scale into the blues scale. The same transformation of notes transforms the minor scale into the minor blues scale, as heard in songs such as "Why Don't You Do Right?". The blues scale is used in almost all twelve-bar and eight-bar blues, but it is also used in blues ballads and in conventional popular songs with a "blue" feeling, such as Harold Arlen's "Stormy Weather". In its earliest manifestations, the flattened third, or mediant, and flattened seventh, or subtonic, were the main blue notes. wiki Blue note

Blues Brothers

The Blues Brothers are an American blues and soul revivalist band founded in 1978 by comedians Dan Aykroyd and John Belushi as part of a musical sketch on Saturday Night Live. Belushi and Aykroyd, respectively in character as lead vocalist "Joliet" Jake Blues and harpist/vocalist Elwood Blues, fronted the band, which was composed of well-known and respected musicians. The band made its debut as the musical guest on the April 22, 1978, episode of Saturday Night Live.

Food

The Ale House also offers a low-key food menu. It has the regular appetizers and salads, along with buffalo, beef and chicken burgers. The dinner menu features tantalizing choices: Coconut Shrimp, six shrimp prepared wit rice and spicy Thai sauce; New York steak with garlic potatoes; grilled salmon; and filet mignon, along with individual create-your-own pizzas. Lunch prices run about $7, and dinner plates cost around $12. “The restaurant that was here before was kind of a high-end seafood place – our prices are very reasonable for where we are,” Mitnick said. He did keep many of the previous restaurant’s staff, however, and their experience in preparing meals shines through in every bite. The Ale House offer drink specials and will feature its own Ale House private label beer at late-night happy hours and other major events.

Environment

Perhaps even more unique is the Ale House’s environment. The comfortable décor offers deep leather couches to sit on, booths and table seating, as well as plenty of floor space for dancing or enjoying a band. There’s a pool table and big-screen television. The Ale House will have Monday Night Football parties with radio DJs and food and drink specials every week during the 17-week season. “We’re a place you can con in watch a game, listen to music and have something great to eat.” Mitnick said. “Come have some fun.”
